The automatic extinguisher for a room heater has a stirrup (10) fixed on a frame (5) and a pivoting blocking plate (20) on the stirrup. An actuator (21) contacts the lower surface of a lever (6) and a coil spring actuates the blocking plate by returning to an original shape when exposed to an excessive temperature. A return spring (40) amplifies the coil spring force when the latter is released to operate an extinguishing operation.
