The invention relates to the use of sildenafil (or its derivatives) and nicotine (or its derivatives) in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and to the use of sildenafil (or its derivatives) and nicotine (or its derivatives) for the production of a medicament to be administered daily and per kilogram of body weight of the patient, the dosage being 0.1 mg to 6.5 mg sildenafil (or a derivative thereof) and 0.1 mg to 2.5 mg nicotine ( or a derivative thereof). The invention also relates to the use of sildenafil (or its derivatives) and nicotine (or its derivatives) in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and to the use of sildenafil (or a derivative thereof) and nicotine (or its derivatives) for the production of a medicament to be administered continuously, the dosage being 0.1 to 6.5 mg sildenafil (or a derivative thereof) daily and per kilogram of body weight of the patient, and nicotine (or its derivatives), the dosage being 0.1 mg to 2.5 nicotine (or a derivative thereof) per day and per kilogram of body weight of the patient.
