The transporting aid has a holding sector (2) for releasable connection of the aid to a transporting device such as a crane, and a cylinder fixing sector to connect the aid to the cylinder. There is an annular metal band on the cylinder fixing sector. A lifting belt (34), preferably textile, fitted round the cylinder, can serve as the cylinder transporting sector.
