A waste water treatment assembly removes particles which are both lighter and heavier than water. The assembly comprises: (a) a first separator (2) for sinking particles, which has a separator container (5) and a collection container (6) linked to each other via a shut-off valve (8); and (b) a second separator (3) for floating particles. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the separator for the removal of fat, oil, grease and starch from waste water prior to discharge into the main public drainage system.
