The connecting system for two multilayer plastic pipes comprises a locking sleeve (6) which is fitted over an intermediate sleeve (5). The ends of this are shaped to cooperate with corresponding contours in the outer layers (1, 2) of the pipe. A sealing sleeve (4) is fitted into grooves formed by removing the outer layer at the end of each pipe.
