The present invention relates to an assessment technique which is conveniently practiced on a computer or over a network. The system first initiates a Testlet (302) which includes identification of the test subject and the test session, and it further identifies the group of questions related to a domain. The system then displays a Testlet question (304) with its possible responses on a device. The device then receives the response (306) to the displayed question followed by an evaluation (308) of the response. Finally, the system evaluates the statistical probability of a specific condition of the test subject and compares it against an established threshold limit (310). If the limit has been satisfied, the system may exit the Testlet (312).
