Automatic identification of document security markings on documents and banknotes uses UV light and CCD camera

The underside of the document (23) is placed on a glass surface (3) and is exposed to ultra violet,UV, light (26). The light reflected by the fluorescent markings is directed onto a mirror (25) to be received by a CCD camera (29) and this has a chip for identification.
