The multi-weight flywheel comprises a first (12) and second (18) arrangement of weights supported by at least one axial support element (42) with intermediate arrangement of bearings (48). A friction arrangement (62) is activated to produce a frictional damping force as a result o f relative rotary rotation between the first and second arrangement of weights. The friction arrangement comprises a friction element which has a contact formation engaging with a counter-engaging formation.
