A device (10) for adjusting the position of a machine tool (T) is disclosed. The device (10) comprises a surface plate (18) defining a flat surface. A plurality of clamps (12) are supported relative to the flat surface. Each clamp (12) is adapted to support a tool (T). An adjustment member is adapted to adjust each tool (T) relative to a respective one of the clamps (12). The method may provide a clamp (12) and a measuring device (32) spaced apart fro m the clamp. A tool (T) may be inserted into the clamp (12). Next, the tool ma y be engaged with the measuring device (32). Now, the position of the tool (T) may be adjusted to achieve a desired measurement by the measuring device (32 ). Finally, the clamp (12) may be tightened upon the tool (T) to hold the tool in a fixed position. At least one additional clamp (12) may be provided and the clamps may be co-planar relative to one another.
