The universal joint incorporates a flexible annular disc (24) with assembly holes (25). A first group of assembled parts is rigidly joined to the drive input shaft while a second group of components is rigidly joined to the output shaft. The first and second groups of assembled components are alternately linked to each other in a circular array by the annular disc. The annular disc forms linkage arms (29) extending between respective neighboring assembly holes and absorb axial vibration. The radial extension of each linkage arm is shorter than the radial length in the circumference of each assembly hole. The length of each link arm is longer than the gap between two neighboring assembly holes.
