For low-resolution scanning, light-sensors are initiated within specific unit time for light from document and generate charge which is transmitted to storage units and transferred to output. After sensing-charge of predetermined number of storage units has been transferred to output, output unit outputs corresponding sensing voltage and resets to start receiving sensing charge again. Scanning module has light-sensing units in linear arrangement, shift register (14) with storage units in serial arrangement, output unit and digital converter. For low-resolution scanning, light-sensing units are started within specific unit time for exposure to light transmitted from document to generate corresponding sensing charge. Charge is transmitted to corresponding storage units and transferred to output. After sensing-charge in predetermined number of storage units has been transferred to output, output unit outputs corresponding sensing voltage and resets to start receiving the sensing charge again. Procedure is repeated until all stored sensing charges are output.
