An electrochemical device comprises a device unit including positive and negative electrodes separated by a separator, liquid electrolyte in contact with the device unit, a metal case enclosing the device unit and the liquid electrolyte, and a cap closing the opening of the metal case. A sealing material is applied between the metal case and the cap. The sealing material comprises an elastomer as a base and some organic pigment, and its color is different from those of the metal case and the cap. A gasket is also provided between the cap and the metal case, and a sealing material is applied between the gasket and the cap or the metal case.
