The present invention relates to a shell of a car body of a railway vehicle. The shell comprises a supporting structure, which comprises a sheet element (3, 3'). The shell also comprises a panel element (2), which is attached to a surface of said sheet element (3, 3'). The panel element (2) is arranged to form an external surface of the car body (1). By such an externally provided panel element (2), it is in a simple manner possible to cover over irregularities and defects in the sheet element (3, 3') and to give the shell of the car body an entirely faultless external surface.
