The invention relates to a method for adaptive channel assignment in a radio communication system, in particular a mobile radio system, based upon a weighting of the properties of the available channels at the radio interface. For the purpose of supporting a flexible spectrum of carrier services, channel selection and priority management are selectively chosen for a particular service, a service quality, a connection direction and/or other connection relevant parameters, whereby services with divergent service requirements do not interfere with information on the general channel quality.
