The arrangement has a fixing element to secure the cylinder head (32). The fixing element has a head (42) with a support surface (45) and a shaft. The head has a channel running transversely through a section of the support surface. The cylinder head has a bore or a recess to hold the fixing element so that its support surface contacts the cylinder head when the fixing element screws the cylinder head to the motor block (34). The bore or recess and the shaft form a chamber (48) between them. The channel conducts gas from inside the chamber. An Independent claim is included for a method to ventilate a chamber between two elements.
