The hammer has a hammer handle (1) with a hammer head (2) and a working arm (4), which has a driving in head (43) with a driver (7) and a magazine (41) for a nail strip. The magazine is connected by a nail guide channel (42) to the driving in head. The nail strip is guided by a nail feed unit (9) with a nail feed device (92) and a slide-way to deliver nails step-wise into the driving in head. The inner cross-section of the nail guide channel is formed at the nail feed device, so that the nail is fixed sideways to the nail strip and does not move backwards along the longitudinal axis of the strip. A compression spring (6) is arranged between the hammer handle and the working arm. The driver is formed to ensure a smooth action of the driving force to drive the nail in the hammer head.
