A technique for computerized management of a plaintiff's personal injury case is disclosed. This technique includes executing a program with a computerized processing system (20) to establish a client data record corresponding to a personal injury claim that includes a claim status indication. The status indication is set to a first phase corresponding to prenegotiation of the claim, and a desired amount of data is entered in the record during this first phase. After entry of this desired data amount, a series of options are presented to an operator relating to generation of a textual communication demanding compensation. At least one of these options provides for the selection of information about the law applicable to the claim from a remotely located, electronically searchable legal information database source (60) coupled to the computer by a communication link (38).
