A multi-stage gas generator for air bag (1) capable of increasing an operating performance and eliminating the erroneous connection of a plurality of ignitors (8) stored therein to the output part (7) of an ignition signal output device (2), wherein a porous tubular member obtained by forming the portion thereof crossing the blowing direction of a flame caused by an ignition means stored in an internal tube member as a fire-proof annular part having no opening hole is disposed in a gas generator housing; a multi-stage air bag device; wherein a limiting means (17) specifying only one combination of connections between the ignition signal output means and the ignitors (8) is provided in a connector (10) installed in a lead wire (9) for feeding ignition signals to the ignitors (8).
