A process for preparing unsaturated compounds of the general formula (2) useful as raw materials for the production of fluororesins or the like in a few steps and in high yield by using compounds of the general formula (1) as the starting material. Specifically, a process for preparing compounds represented of the general formula (2): CR?bRc=CRdRe¿ (including CF¿3?CF2CF2OCF=CF2) by pyrolysis of a compound having at least one partial structure represented by the general formula (1): -COOCF2CR?bRc-CXRdRe¿, for example, CF¿3?CF2CF2OCF(CF3)COOCF2CF-(CF3)OCF2CF2CF3, with R?b to Re¿ being each hydrogen, halogeno, a monovalent organic group which is not converted by pyrolysis, or the like.
