The protection has a rail bar (2) extending between two spaced vertical side protection posts (1). A box-shaped depot (6) for tools (7) and materials (8) is arranged at the rail bar. The depot is preferably supported by at least one rod held at a rear wall (9) and projection over a base (15) at an intermediate bar (3) parallel to the rail bar. The rods may slide in pipes at the outside of the rear wall and have projecting end abutments.
