A data terminal apparatus comprising a data processor connected to a data terminal, a telephone connected to a telephone terminal, a terminal adaptor with a built-in DSU which is connected to an analog terminal and a digital terminal and a modem with which the analog termina1 is connected to the data terminal, and the digital terminal is connected to the telephone terminal, characterized in that a ca11 signal is transmitted via the analog terminal by using one of the data processor and the telephone, and connected, if arrangement is to be made, it is made by using the telephone and, after the arrangement if the arrangement is made and immediately if the arrangement is omitted, the call signal is transmitted from the data processor via the data terminal and the digital terminal while the data are transmitted from the data processor via the modem and the analog terminal, and the data are continuously transmitted via the analog terminal if the connection via the digital terminal is unsuccessful, and the data are transmitted via the digital terminal and a cutoff signal is transmitted to the modem if the connection via the digital terminal is successful.
