<p>A product slicer (10) comprising: a housing (20); a circular slicing blade (30) rotatably mounted in the housing; a gauge plate (40) adjustable relative to the slicing blade for setting the thickness of a product slice; an adjustment mechanism (180,170) for adjusting the gauge plate (40) from a closed position to an open position; a food product carriage (50,70) mounted for reciprocation on the housing; a carriage arm (72) pivotally mounted on the carriage; a plunging element (130), linked to the carriage arm (72), which reciprocates between a first locked and retracted position, in which the carriage arm (72) is in a food slicing position, and a second unlocked and extended position, in which the carriage arm is in a cleaning position, the plunging element (130) being reciprocated by pivoting the carriage arm (72); an interlock bar (150) mounted in the housing (20) and extending over the path of displacement of the carriage (50,70), the interlock bar (150) having an irregular cross-section (152) and being rotatable between a first locked position in which it blocks reciprocation of the plunging element (130) thereby preventing the carriage arm (72) from being pivoted to an extended position and a second unlocked position in which it does not block reciprocation of the plunging element (130) allowing the carriage arm (72) to be pivoted to the cleaning position; and a pin (162) carried on the interlock bar (150), the pin (162) cooperating with the adjustment mechanism (170,174) such that when the gauge plate (40) is in the open position, the interlock bar (150) is in the first locked position and when the gauge plate (40) is in the closed position, the interlock bar (150) is in the second unlocked position. <MATH></p> |
