[Also in Group XXIII] Fabrics are dry cleaned and simultaneously waterproofed by treatment with a silicone or mixture of silicones which is agitated during the treatment to cause it to froth. Preferably the fabrics are treated in a dry cleaning machine of the rotary double-walled drum type with a solution of a mixture of dimethyl-polysiloxanes in trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene, carbon tetrachloride, o-dichlorobenzene, benzene, toluene, m-xylene, solvent naphtha, or a light petroleum fraction. After treatment the fabrics may be dried in a hot air stream, and then treated with steam to remove wrinkles therefrom. Specifications 708,821 and 723,789 are referred to.. |
