PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for controlling a traction means for an endless belt so that a large knurling belt and in turn, an endless belt of such kind can be situated in a limited space. SOLUTION: This sheet processing device comprises a delivery roller 7a, a knurling belt 190' making inner contact with the outer periphery of the delivery roller 7a, a roller 7b brought into pressure contact with the outer periphery of the knurling belt 190' to form a nip, a delivery means to deliver a paper sheet, a floating roller 191 to make contact with the inner peripheral surface of the knurling belt 190', an actuator for traction to cause the floating roller 191 to effect traction operation in a given direction, a sheet delivery motor to drive the sheet delivery means, a control means to control the sheet delivery motor, and a control means to control the sheet delivery motor. The control means is featured by stopping the sheet delivery motor after the actuator 192 is moved to an initial position before traction.
