PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for manual correction of the position of a cloth guide by a worker even if a button for which the distance from the center of the button to a hole of the button from which sewing is to be started is different. SOLUTION: A button pinching leg 12 holding a button 8 fed from a button feeder 2, a button pinching leg control means 30d controlling the button pinching leg to make it move up and down and horizontally so that the button may come on a fabric and a hole 8a of the button and a needle falling point N may coincide, a fabric guide 5 capable of setting the distance L from the needle falling point N to the side of the fabric by arranging the side of the fabric, making it butt against the fabric guide, a fabric guide driving means 16 and 32 moving horizontally the fabric guide in the direction perpendicular to the fabric feeding direction and a fabric guide control means 30c controlling the fabric guide driving means to horizontally move the fabric guide in the direction perpendicular to the fabric feeding direction in accordance with the physical relationship between the button center and a hole of a button from which sewing is to be started.
