PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium counting system wherein even if a medium counting device malfunctions due to the irradiation of illegal radio waves, gift coupons can not be obtained. SOLUTION: A gift medium number calculating means 6 is provided on the side of a game machine 1 to calculate the number of gift mediums by subtracting the total number of shootings from the sum total of the number of lent mediums and the number of obtained prize mediums to output the number of gift mediums as the number of first gift mediums. A gift medium number difference identification means 11 is provided on the side of a medium counting device 2 including a coupon issuing device 20 to identify the differences between a second gift medium number being the result of the counting by the device 2 and the first gift medium number, and if the difference between the first number and the second number is within an allowable range, gift coupons are issued.
