PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of reducing occurrence of a wrinkle on a master while surely receiving and delivering the master to a master locking means on a plate cylinder by surely holding and conveying the distal end of the master. SOLUTION: In the printer comprising the plate cylinder 1 provided on a part of an outer peripheral surface 1a of the maser locking means 50 having a locking unit Y for locking a distal end 9B of the master 9, a platemaking means 30 and a cutting means 20, the cylinder 1 has a master holding and conveying means 40 capable of reciprocatingly displacement between a first position disposed at an upstream side of a master conveying direction from the means 20 to hold the distal end 9B near the means 50 when the cylinder 1 is stopped at the maser locking position and a second position lockable at the end 9B at a locking unit Y through the locking unit Y. The unit Y has a first locking part 3c for locking a center of the end 9B and a second locking part 3d for locking the end 9B over an entire width, and the means 40 occupies the second position, the end 9B is opened at a prescribed amount in the master lateral direction, then the center of the end 9B is locked by the first part 3c, and thereafter the end 9B is locked in an overall width by the second part 3d.
