PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reliability and operability of an automatic hand dryer. SOLUTION: This hand dryer is provided with a high pressure air flow generator 2 for drying wet hands in a hand drying space, an individual image pickup element 4 for forming an output image by detecting an object in the hand drying space as an image and an image processing means 8 for outputting an operation command for operating the high pressure air flow generator 2 by recognizing the human hands from information on the output image of the individual image pickup element 4.
