PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat that absorbs an impact applied from above and behind the seat via a short stroke. SOLUTION: An impact absorbing frame 10 fixed to the upper rear of an upper edge frame 4 is a plastically deformable thin-walled tubular body of metal and of a diameter of 10 mm, and comprises a straight cushioning portion 11, a bend portion 12 extended from the center seat-side edge of the cushioning portion 11 and bent down, and a mounting portion 13 extended from the bend portion 12 and formed parallel to a side frame 6. The impact absorbing frame 10 is fixed to a back frame 3 when the cushioning portion 11 is supported by three legs 14 arranged along the length of the upper edge frame and the mounting portion 13 is welded to that side of the side frame which is forward of the legs 14.
