PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a glass plate with a metal oxide surface film for improving a conventional process in which a region without the film is damaged, working accuracy is low and film-removing is complicated because the region without the film is polished with a wheel stone. SOLUTION: The glass plate whose surface is formed with a metal oxide film is manufactured by the following processes: The fitting hole 4 and its peripheral region of the surface 1a of the plate are covered with a masking material 3. The metal oxide film 2 containing the surface of the material 3 is formed on the surface of the masked glass plate. The material 3 is removed from the peripheral region of the hole 4 of the glass plate whose surface is formed with the metal oxide film 2, as a result the plane without the metal oxide film 5 is formed in the peripheral region of the fitting hole of the glass plate whose surface is formed with the metal oxide film.
