PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gluing and bookbinding device, aligning correctly the side rims of papers with respect to a gluing position to effect sure gluing on a predetermined position of the papers and improved in the finishing quality of bookbinding of the bundle of papers, in which the image treatment on the same is finished. SOLUTION: The gluing bookbinding device O is provided with an intermediate stacker unit 35 for receiving papers S introduced into the device, an aligning device 30, transferring in reverse the papers S introduced into the stacker unit 35 and abutting the rear ends of the papers S against a stopper unit 35C to align the rear ends of the same, a direction changing transfer means 40, transferring the papers S to a direction orthogonal to the advancing direction of the papers S after the aligning treatment by the aligning means 30, and a gluing means 50, spreading glue on the vicinity of side rims of the papers S transferred by the direction changing transfer means 40 in the transferring direction of the papers S.
