PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a sequentially biaxially stretched film in an industrially stable manner by preventing the breakage of a film in the lateral stretching process of a sequential biaxial stretching method. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing the biaxially stretched film by stretching a film longitudinally and subsequently stretching the longitudinally stretched film laterally by a flat type lateral stretching machine, the rotational speeds of a plurality of roll groups provided in the preheating part, stretching part and cooling part in the longitudinal stretching process are set so that the fluctuation ratios of the respective zones are set to 0.2% or less.
