PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a gasket generating no liquid leak by solving such a problem that there is a locally thick-walled part in the gasket interposed between the plates of a plate type heat exchanger and the liquid leak at this thick-walled part is brought about. SOLUTION: A cover material 2 having a U-shaped cross section is preformed in a predetermined endless shape and a core material 1 having a square cross section is fitted in the cover material 2 to mutually combine the core material 1 and the cover material 2 and this combination is vulcanized to bond the core material 1 and the cover material 2.
