PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic welding method which is able to perform automatic copy welding along a groove without an operator watching. SOLUTION: In the apparatus, when the second layer is formed by MAG welding, the second camera 15 taking an image of the shape of bead to find a remaining lamination layer height at the groove 2, corresponding to the lamination layer height, as a groove copy position and the height position to be formed in the following layer are corrected a welding position, a welding current.speed, and a weaving width can be decided, corresponding to that, automatic copy welding can be performed. Accordingly it's not needed that an operator watches always the welding position, the welding current.speed, and the weaving width of the welding apparatus such as in conventional method, so that working efficiency can be improved highly.
