PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a caulking method which uniformizes a heating temperature distribution for a caulking boss, reduces cracks during caulking works and stabilizes the caulking quality. SOLUTION: A caulking method which is provided with a heating step to heat a caulking boss 11 by bringing a punch 31 for caulking heated at a fixed temperature by a heater 32 and a temperature controller 33 in contact with a top section 11a of the caulking boss 11 and a fastening step to fasten a processing workpiece 10 and a plate 20 through plastic deformation of the caulking boss 11 by improving a pressing load to the caulking boss 11 from the punch 31 for caulking after the heating step. The caulking boss is evenly heated as a whole through the heating process which leads to reduce the cracks owing to the temp. difference in the subsequent fastening step. The heating to the caulking boss 11 is performed through heat transfer, which lessens heating temp. variation to the caulking boss 11 and helps to stabilize caulking quality.
