PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pancreatic cancer antigen applicable to diagnosis or treatment of pancreatic cancer, etc., and a gene, etc., capable of encoding the antigen. SOLUTION: This human pancreatic cancer antigen KU-PAN-1 is isolated by preparing a cDNA using an mRNA obtained from a pancreatic cancer cell line according to a reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method, transducing the resultant cDNA into a λ phage vector, infecting Escherichia coli with the prepared pancreatic cancer cell cDNA library comprising the total 1.6×106 λ phage cDNA clones and screening the cDNA library using a serum IgG of a patient suffering from progressive pancreactic cancer. The resultant antigen KU-PAN-1 is reactive with only the serum of the patient suffering from the pancreatic cancer without reacting with normal human serum and selectively expressible in the pancreatic cancer cell. |
