PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic resin emulsion obtained by dispersing the synthetic resin particles in water, used as a main component of a sealer composition used for the reapplication of a new coated membrane and exhibiting excellent physical properties equivalent to an organic solvent-based sealer e.g. an adhesively to an old coated membrane surface, in spite of not containing the organic solvent. SOLUTION: This synthetic resin emulsion is obtained by copolymerizing (a) 20-99.5 wt.% (meth)acrylic acid ester [containing >=50 wt.% (meth)acrylic acid ester having <=4 C alkyl group based on the total (meth)acrylic acid ester], (b) 0.5-10 wt.% ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid and (c) 0-79.5 wt.% monomer copolymerizable with the above (a) and (b) by using an alkyldiphenyl ether disulfonic acid salt as an emulsifying agent, and has 15-50 deg.C glass transition point (Tg) and 0.01-0.2μm mean particle diameter of dispersed synthetic resin particles.
