PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of clarifying a timing to exchange a feed roller or retard roller pair, and an image forming device comprising the same. SOLUTION: Sheets fed out from a feeding means 1 are separated and conveyed one by one by the retard roller pair composed of the feed roller 2 and the retard roller 3 rotating in the direction opposite to the rotating direction of the feed roller 2, and the sheets S1 passed between the retard roller pair are successively detected by two sheet detecting means 10 and 11 mounted at a downstream side of the retard roller pair. A judging means judges the service life of the feed roller 2 by detecting a speed of the sheet S1 passed through the retard roller pair on the basis of a time from the detection of the sheet by the upstream side sheet detecting means 10 to the detection of the sheet S1 by the downstream side sheet detecting means 11.
