PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator for preventing breakdown of an electronic part constituting a power circuit for supplying a power source to a lifting motor by effectively treating regenerative power generated when rotating the lifting motor in the lowering direction and capable of more properly maintaining a lowering speed than in the conventional one without depending on the body weight of a person to be cared. SOLUTION: A regenerative braking circuit part 8 having a power source interlocking switch turned on when a motor power circuit 10 for supplying electric power to the lifting motor 2 is in an OFF state and turned off in an ON state, is connected to both ends of the lifting motor 2 lifted and driven by a motor driving circuit 4, and this regenerative braking circuit part 8 performs regenerative braking by a regenerative current carried when the motor power ciruit 10 is in an OFF state and the lifting motor 2 is rotated in the lowering direction.
