PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a method for removing fats and oils contained in wastewater by converting them into scum with an oil treating agent containing soap as a main component and separating the scum into solids and liquid by floating, and a simple bio-reactor system in which the oils converted into the floating scum are decomposed by microorganisms. SOLUTION: In the method, the wastewater containing the fats and the oils is added with the oil treating agent, the mixture is agitated by air, the fats and the oils are converted into the scum to be floated. The scum is led to a special small-size bio-reactor in which the floating scum is decomposed by the microorganisms, so that the generation of sludge is controlled.
