The invention relates to a loader carried by a tractor for lifting forage bales and for depositing the bales on a trailer, comprising a lifter arm (1) that is carried by the tractor and pivotally journalled on an axis (2) that is tilted forwards/upwards with respect to the tractor's advancing direction, the lifter arm being controlled to move between and lowered position substantially in parallel with the ground surface and transversely with respect to the advancing direction, and a raised position wherein the arm extends angularly inclined backwards/upwards and generally oppositely with respect to the advancing direction, an outer end of the lifter arm carrying a gripper (3) controllable for gripping and releasing bales from the grip of the gripper. The gripper (3) is pivotally journalled about an axis (4) arranged in the outer end of the arm and tilted at the same angular inclination as the axis (2), and a parallel rod (5) extending along the lifter arm for pivoting the gripper (3) about its axis (4) during lifting and lowering motions, whereby the gripper always maintains its orientation relative to the advancing direction in all pivoted positions of the lifter arm (1). |
