PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save space and to curtail plant costs in case of the plant having a plurality of strands, separately requiring no positional control of a descaling device or a marking device. SOLUTION: In the marking device to mark necessary information on the end surface of a round billet 15 cast and cut out to the designated length in a continuously casting plant, a nozzle 11 for marking and a nozzle 12 for descaling are composed integrally, so as to rise and fall and to traverse. Further the nozzle for marking alone is composed movably in the direction of moving up and down and in the running direction. A detection device 14 of a stop end surface position of the round billet 15 is provided. The same number of the marking devices as the number of the strand in the continuously casting plant is provided so as to run on the same base 19. Accordingly even if the stop position of the round billet changes, markings can be clearly made and even when a marking device happens to breakdown, another marking device can back it up.
