PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing propargyl alcohol without isolating an intermediate from 1,2,3-trichloropropane. SOLUTION: This method for producing propargyl alcohol comprises reacting 1,2,3-trichloropropane with an alkali compound in the amount of the latter being at least 3 equivalents to that of the former or an aqueous solution of the alkali compound at 20 deg.C to 200 deg.C under pressure.
