PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for monitoring around a vehicle and its method that allow changing a position of viewpoint dynamically to display an optimum composite image on a display inside the vehicle in accordance with a driving situation. SOLUTION: The device for monitoring around a vehicle of the present invention comprises: cameras 101; analog to digital converters (A/D) 102; frame memories 103; a digital to analog converter 105; a display 106 such as liquid crystal display or the like; a conversion table 107 made into a ROM configured to serve as a table for geometric conversion to correct for a distortion; parameter supplying means 108 for supplying parameter for viewpoint changing so that viewpoint can be dynamically changed; and image compositing means 104 comprising CPU or DSP and the like that, as a first step, corrects for the distortion of images provided from each camera based on the conversion table 107 made into a ROM and, as a second step, conducts address calculation and the like at a high speed based on parameter of viewpoint changing supplied from the parameter supplying means 108. |
