<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device high in availability of light, little in afterimage, large in the angle of visibility, and high in response speed. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a plurality of pixels in which a common electrode, a plurality of pixel electrodes, and semiconductor switching element are disposed, a scanning signal line, a video signal line which outputs a signal to the pixel electrode, an array substrate in which a plurality of pixels, scanning signal lines and video signal lines are disposed on a surface, a counter substrate disposed opposite to the array substrate, and a liquid crystal layer held by the array substrate and the counter substrate. At least one of electrode pairs composed of a set of the common electrode and the pixel electrode or at least one of the electrodes differs in a shape from other electrode pairs or the electrode, respectively. In the liquid crystal display device of an IPS type in which the common electrode and the pixel electrode align on the same substrate, and are disposed alternately, the electrode pair different in the shape from other electrode pairs or the electrode different in the shape from other electrodes is used together.</p> |
