PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dull polyester yarn excellent in hand feeling and sense of lightweight, readily being subjected to an alkali weight loss processing in comparison with a conventional dull polyester yarn using titanium oxide. SOLUTION: This dull polyester-based yarn contains 0.1-5.0 wt.% of a monocarboxylic acid metal salt compound having 4-30 constitutent carbon atoms and has >=80% degree of orientation measured by X-ray diffraction and 1.320-1.365 g/cm3 density.
