PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element having high brightness. SOLUTION: As the constituting material of the organic EL element, a specific tetrabenzo [de, hi, op, st] pentacent compound represented by following general formula (1) is used. (In the formula, R1-R18 each independently represents hydrogen atom, halogen atom, hydroxyl group, amino group, nitro group, cyano group, carboxyl group, alkyl group, alkenyl group, cycroalkyl group, alkoxy group, aromatic hydrocarbon group, aromatic hetrocyclic group, an aralkyl group, aryloxy group, alkoxycarbonyl group, or their derivatives. R1-R18 may form a ring with two of them. At least among R1-R18 is a diarylamino group represented by -Nar1Ar2 (Ar1, Ar2 each independently represents a substituted or non-substituted 6-20C aryl group).].
