PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid high polymer molecule type fuel cell which fully prevents generating of flooding, and can acquire high cell characteristics stably from an early stage of starting over a long period of time, even if large current is turned on in the early stage of starting. SOLUTION: The fuel cell FC has an anode 8, a cathode 5, and a high polymer electrolyte film PEM arrayed between the anode and the cathode. And, the cathode further has a gas diffusion layer 4, and a catalyst layer 1 and a catalyst layer 2 which are arrayed between the gas diffusion layer and the high polymer electrolyte film. Ion exchange capacity X [milli-equivalent-weight/g dry resin] of the ion exchange resin contained in the catalyst layer 1 in contact with the high polymer electrolyte film and ion exchange capacity Y [milli- equivalent-weight/g dry resin] of the ion exchange resin contained in the catalyst layer 2 in contact with the gas diffusion layer simultaneously fills conditions of formulas (1)-(3): 0.88<=X<=1.50... (1), 0.70<=Y<=1,32... (2), and 0.18<=(X-Y)<=0.70... (3), respectively. |
