PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL DRIVE METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve contrast of a displayed image. SOLUTION: Plasma display equipment consists of a pair of row electrodes responding to each one of display lines, a row electrode comprising a discharge cell responding to one pixel at each intersection of the pair of the electrodes arranged crossing over with the row electrode and a drive control portion to control the drive of the row electrode and the column electrodes. A gradation display of an input pixel data is executed by subdividing a display duration of one field into plural subfields. When one field of the input pixel data is displayed, the drive control portion changes the number of reset discharges to initialize all the discharge cells based on an average luminance of the input pixel data in immediately preceding one field.
