PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal that can automatically decide a communication condition of a so-called overseas communication mode without the need for pre-registration and conduct sure communication by eliminating a communication fault. SOLUTION: A RAM 7a of a facsimile terminal 20 has a communication log table 7a that stores a past communication state including a communication rate, the number of frame re-transmissions and a communication date and time by each country number being communication destination and has a communication setting table 7b by each country that stores a maximum communication rate and a setting condition to set whether an ECM(error correction mode) being a error re-transmission system is set or cleared by each country number, and a main control section 1 decides a communication condition including the maximum communication rate and the setting as to whether or not the ECM is in use on the basis of the past communication state stored in the communication log table 7a so as to make communication with an overseas destination facsimile terminal (steps S5-S23 in Figures 4, 5).
